Understanding the GRAEL project
Building an ambitious range of courses for the University of Lille

GRAEL objectives

Developing a range of course based on excellent research and the university’s hubs, offering multidisciplinary courses to enhance the influence and expand the pool of young researchers.

Improving the university’sinternational appeal and encouraging mobility abroad.

Training high-level scientific and technological researchers and managers around topics of common interest in order to address today’s societal challenges and integrate into the socio-economic world.

Building stimulating and innovativeenvironments to bring together master’s and PhD students.

The graduate programmes

Attractive, high-level master’s and doctorate programmes backed by excellent research and organised around the major scientific and societal themes of the University of Lille and its partners.

A graduate programme brings together master’s and doctoral students from different backgrounds to work together to tackle the societal challenges of our time. Master’s courses focus on research in a stimulating, competitive and innovativescientific environment. The graduate programmes help students to explore the scientific, geographical and professional worlds around them, and enhance the influence and expand the pool of young researchers.

Objectives of the graduate programmes

  • Linking research, education and innovation by building on the challenges that the university’s four hubs focus on to strengthen the links between master’s degrees and doctorates.
  • Educating students in interdisciplinarity by putting them in contact with future experts in other disciplines, with whom they will work to build bridges and acquire a global perspective on their subject area.
  • Giving students a truly international outlook to encourage international mobility
  • Supporting students in their career plans to promote their integration into the professional world and help them build their professional network.

Initiatives implemented

Financial support

Excellence scholarships

The University of Lille’s graduate programmes offer excellence scholarships with the aim of attracting exceptionally talented students to their master’s courses. These scholarships not only reward academic excellence, they also aim to foster a diverse and dynamic academic community. They concern both the international and French student communities.

Mobility grants

The University of Lille’s graduate programmes offer international mobility grants, both incoming and outgoing, to master’s and PhD students to promote access to international mobility on a wider scale.

Entertainment and events

The University of Lille’s graduate programmes offer a varied series of events throughout the year, created to boost students’ and researchers’ working environment.

The programme includes multidisciplinary days, days to mark the start of the new academic year, afterworks and rounds of conferences, which provide opportunities for exchange and collaboration.

Specific events, such as the PhD Job Day and the Dissertation Information Day, are organised to raise awareness of the possibility of studying for a doctorate. Last but not least, the International Academy’s integration week is designed to welcome international students, reinforcing the open attitude towards other cultures and international influence of the university and its courses.
